Men’s Basketball Aims For a Tuesday Bounce Back

first_img Buy Tickets ESPN+ Des Moines, Iowa – Following a loss at No. 14 Dayton, the Drake University men’s basketball team returns to the Knapp Center with hopes of continuing its home game winning streak against Mount Marty Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and on the radio at ESPN 1350.  Drake has won 10-straight games at the Knapp Center dating back to last season and 17-straight non-conference home games dating to 2016.The Bulldogs (8-3), who are 6-0 at home this season, are coming off a 78-47 loss at No. 14 Dayton on Saturday night. Roman Penn led the Bulldogs for the second-straight game with 13 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Penn leads the Bulldogs in both scoring and assists this season with 10.7 points and 5.1 assists per game.Sophomore Liam Robbins added 12 points for the Bulldogs, with a career-high three three-pointers. Robbins continues to be the leading post player and is in second on the team in scoring with more than 10 points per game while ranking in the top-50 nationally in blocks.Garrett Sturtz continues to dominate the boards with 6.5 rebounds per game this season. He has had seven games this season where he had six or more rebounds. Against Dayton, he had eight rebounds, three points and two assists. Mount Marty (13-2) has had a turnaround season and already exceeded its win total from last year thanks to first-year head coach Todd Lorensen. The Lancers, who hail from Yankton, S.D., average more than 90 points per game with senior Chris King averaging more than 21 points per game. Tuesday will be the first-ever matchup between the two programs. After their matchup with the Lancers, Drake will hit the road for a pair of games to wrap up the 2019 calendar year starting with a Dec. 21 date at Air Force.
