We need to stabilize our markets and provide certainty. We want to find ways to reduce the cost of care and prescription drugs. Washington can do all these things without dismantling coverage and protections for millions of Pennsylvanians. However, there must be the will to put politics aside and focus on the human impact of our health care system.”Earlier this month, Governor Wolf was joined by Governors Hickenlooper (Colorado), Kasich (Ohio), Walker (Alaska), Bullock (Montana), McAuliffe (Virginia), Edwards (Louisiana), Sandoval (Nevada), Baker (Massachusetts), and Scott (Vermont) to oppose the Graham-Cassidy proposal. At the beginning of September, then-Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner, and now Acting Secretary of Human Services, Teresa Miller testified at hearings called by bipartisan Senators focused on insurance market stabilization. Acting Secretary Miller also testified yesterday in Washington against the Graham-Cassidy proposal.Governor Wolf and bipartisan governors presented Congress with a plan to strengthen health insurance markets in August.
